This video is of CSX train Q437 at CP57 (Charleton, MA) on the Boston and Albany line. This train has a DPU (distributed power unit) which helps even out the slack in the couplers (and hopefully, in the future, would mean longer trains)

First unit is a ES44AH followed by a GP40-2 and the DPU is a ES44AH

  • great catch nice manifest to

  • The ES44AH's are the best thing that's ever happened to this railroad. I knew the sounded great hauling on the headend, but a few months ago I caught a Q423 on Washington Hill with one of these puppy's as a DPU on the back...these things SCREAM going up that mountain! I'm posting a response to this vid here to show ya.

  • Hey, I was in Framingham today and I saw Q437 lined up to go with a DPU on the end. I'd never seen that before, but I guess I was right.

I waited in Ashland for it to go, but it got to be about 1:00 and it still hadn't departed.
