Steve's Songwriter Panel, Ships & Dip V, February 4, 2009
There were abut 10 minutes left at Steve's songwriter panel for one more round.
(That's not much for 7 songwriters!)
Steven asked everybody to play their shortest song.
Luke Doucet actually does have a 45 second song, though he couldn't remember it so he played "I Wish I Was American" instead. :)
Sitting next to Luke is (his wife) Melissa McClelland
Being a fellow Canadian, I'm sort of confused by this tune.. But sort of not.. As I fall more and more in love with Bluegrass, Jazz and classic Country music.. The tune starts to make a lot more sense to me.. Has nothing to do with being Canadian, but rather, much to do with loving certain bits of yankee roots. At least, to me.

If I drop names of exotic towns that you'll never see in the songs that I write (and forget? haha) it's that that's all I have when I miss my girl and you're taking yours home tonight
