Lahore is also mentioned in Collins & LaPierre's book 'Freedom at Midnight' One of our particle Physicists Prof. Abdus Salam is also from Lahore. My father's friend was a Dean at one of the colleges.I urge you see the video 'Ye Duniya Roop ki Chor' on U tube, I don't know of any other song that she did that can surpass that one. Try and upload videos if you can Professor, especially of her singing old songs.

Your mother was 100% right in saying so. Lahore was and continues to be one of the finest cities of this part of the world (or sub continent). It is a center of culture, civilization, education, health and vigor. Kamini Kaushal was also a student at Kiniard College, Lahore. Likewise many other celebrities either belonged to Lahore or had some connections here. Delighted to see your comment.

I downloaded the song from the film 'Shabnam' - Ye Duniya roop ki Chor. An outstanding performance considering she was only 22 at that time. I was not in Lahore but my parents were and my mother spoke of it often enough. It was like the Paris of the Orient. I heard that song long time ago on Radio Ceylon in India iin the early 50's and it stayed with me eversince. Kamini Kaushal - A lot of woman there!!
