@llizsm -- Yes, but you might want add something to that. It depends on the situation. If you create a past conditional sentence or if you are using reported speech, it's possible.

@lmtwinkle -- Well, would you use "get" with the word "justified?" Good communication is dependent on making good word choices. The example you provide sounds kind of odd to begin with.
