@bfall66 I see what you mean, but I think the reason why God is somewhat bent on human suffering; is because he is putting mankind through a test. And if we make choices based upon what we are presented with through him.......we will be rewarded in some shape or form. Aside from that.....the whole Job ordeal, if you read the whole book instead of just a few chapters or verses you will find out that it was just a test and God rewarded Job for making the right choices.

Perhaps the key insight of Jungian psychology is that mental illness isnt a purely individual phenomenon, but a manifestation of larger imbalances in the culture and psyche of mankind. Schizophrenics are the scapegoats of a culture which clings to it's own superficial certainties, refusing to confront the contradictions and questions bubbling up from it's own depths; they are the receptacles of all the psychical garbage which has been denied and has yet to be dealt with within the culture.

@muselessjess - Well, I've read the Bible and found many contradictions, and for the most part it made no sense. Whereas the writings of Jung make incredible sense to me.
I suppose it's all in the mindset. Personally, if the God of the Holy Bible exists, I think he's a malevolent egomaniac bent on human suffering. Read the book of Job for the gory details. And that book is just one small example of your God's sadomasochistic tendencies.
I'll stick with critical thinking.
