Transporting Animals To Freedom

This is "POPEYE" a one eyed puppy. He was rescued from the local shelter... as a cute two month old puppy.

Then dumped a year later and put on Death Row.

But Popeye's fate was about to change and in turn he would change the fate of 70 other dogs.

All these dogs were destined to die.

The SHELTER TRANSPORT ANIMAL RESCUE TEAM (S.T.A.R.T.)
rasied enough money to save POPEYE's life which funded SUNNY SKIES RESCUE GROUP, headed by Dr. Berton, to drive from Seattle to LA to resuce POPEYE and 70 other medically challenged dogs.

THOUSANDS of highly adoptable dogs are killed each week in the LA shelter system... Yes, thousands! Animals thrown away like trash in LA,
are given a chance in other states.

This is made possible by funds raised to help S.T.A.R.T. transport these dogs into safe hands.

UNTIL EVERY TAIL WAGS AGAIN!

POPEYE, the dog that saved 70 of his friends, found his forever home three weeks later.

  • You guys are amazing. I have two rescue chis , one was to be destroyed within hours before a NY chihuahua arranged her transport. She was abused and abandoned in the street. With heartworm and inverted patellas, she was deemed "unadoptable". This dog is so amazing loving and clinging that I cannot anyone ever not wanting her. And she completely brought by other recently rescued timid chihuahua out of his shell. Now they winter in the FL Keys and summer in the Hamptons. They deserve it!

  • It brings tears in my eyes each time I see the video. It's very moving to see the dogs being rescued.

  • Tears of joy :) :)

  • So moving. What wonderful work you do. Bless you.

  • Awesome job, S.T.A.R.T.

  • Thank you Cathy. We are really tying to make a difference to the ones we can help.

  • God Bless All of You for the wonderful work that is being done to help save the animals. I am pleased that I got the opportunity to be a two-day-foster mom for a 13-year-old and a 4-year-old Chi-X pair waiting for their transport on 11-21-11 that let them make the trip to a rescue group in Canada. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help save their lives. :) Cathy in Highland, CA
