Hail near El Dorado, NM, May 27, 2010 around 2 p.m. The hail I encountered was small, mostly pea with the largest stones about 1/2 inch. The hail may have been larger near Lamy, where there was some accumulation of the hail on the ground, but by the time I got there the hail had moved on to the northeast.
@rainydog I remember some of those storms on Carlyle. One in particular where we were with you at the sailing club while lightning zapped down all around and when we got back to the campsite later, two of our group's tents were down, including ours! And a tree 10 feet from it split by lightning!

Hi John, Good to see New Mexico again, even in the hail. We get hail here too, in thunderstorms, especially during hurricane season, which starts in four days June 1. I remember my first thunderstorm on Lake Carlyle. I took a weather course after that one.
