On the occasion of the opening of the 2006 Farnborough Air Show, the Gripen team is delighted to launch its brand new video 'Gripen Success Story'.

It would be quite easy for us to tell you how Gripen is the only new generation fighter in operational service, how it meets our customers' national and international defence, economic and offset needs, and how the Gripen team continues to deliver on its promises. However, we thought it might be better if you heard it directly from our customers.

  • Ah, Gripen. But The Netherlands will not buy your plane. Sorry. It is the F-35 JSF for us. We'd rather have a generation 5 fighter instead. Thank you anyway Sweden.

  • Unfortunatly the F-35 is not a air superiority jet. That's what the F-22A is for... Big mistake to buy the F-35 as the only jet for an airforce.

  • A nice and very "un-swedish" video on the success of the Gripen fighter. I believe that 15 years from now, there will be at least twice as many Gripen operators in the world. Hopefully we'll see Gripens in Norwegian and Danish colours!

  • Yes hopefully. And sure this is a marketing video but no one forced these people from different countries to speak good of the Gripen program.

  • GRIPEN!!!

  • u pay, the us builds and ceep the blueprints without charing info... wasn´t that what the UK was pissed about?

  • You've got a point. But solitairy air superiority is not what we seek. We are a member of NATO. We just want to do our bit. Air superiority is secured bu our NATO membership. We'd rathet invest our tax money in a plane that is built by all of us instead of ONLY SWEDES. We're in this together. Profit should be of no importance...

  • Sure we can be proud, but this video was, for me as a Swede, kinda embarrassing. Probably 'cause of Jante... or maybe good taste ;)

  • The Swedes can be proud of their Gripen, a inexpensive Gen 4.5 fighter.

  • Nop, the Gripen is the first operational plane of the new generation.

  • I sure hope we will, and that they stop flying the old F16´s and take Gripen instead.

  • Don't forget New Zealand. Their air force just flys Cargo planes.
