Watch what happens when 10,000 or so unionists and supporters converge on downtown Hamilton Ontario to support locked out steelworkers from Local 1005 there to decry their employer U.S. Steel, for failing to honour its commitments under the Investment Canada Act. The Saturday January 29th 2011 gathering was the biggest rally in the community since the one day city wide strike in 1996 during the Ontario Days of Action. Attendees bused in from as far away as Montreal some 400 miles away to voice an angry cry in response to the Federal government's failure to stand up for workers rights and defend their pensions.
"Workers are the producers of all the wealth and the providers of all services, we are the source of the wealth that the rich and the monopolies so covet and enjoy... the workers warn them not to bite the hand that feeds them" Well said Brother Gertsenberger... well said indeed!
