See the lights flashing bright above Electrify the night Sweat dripping lords of the metal kind Blow you out of sight Never listen to a word we say You're always breaking the rules Eyes are open when you pray Mocking the blinded fools, you fool
You put their heads on the grinding wheel Give 'em hell 'cause you're harder than steel Oh, you're harder than steel, yeah, ya feel All for yourself and no one else
You try to look 'em straight in the eye A piercing glare of truth Holding their minds in a metal grip All power is in your youth Using age as a weapon they try to bring you down A violent social circle but they can't steal your crown
You've had it up to here, ya know With all their lies No chains are gonna hold you down You're breaking all the ties tonight It's your life, you're gonna live it Can't tell ya what to do In one ear and out the other That's what they see in you

This dude sounds just like Bruce Dickinson, damn...is it not him??! lol Cuz he sounds just like him. This song is awesome by the way! Fuckin' catchy as hell
Both thrash and power are heavily influenced by NWOBHM bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden...and there's been alot of influence going both ways since so its very understandable bands of one genre can be mistaken for the other imho. But from what I've heard thrash more typically focuses on the faster/more aggressive side of things, thus making it one the "extreme metal" genres.
I think you're right thrash has been referred to as power metal before it became known as thrash, I've always thought of "Power Metal" nowadays as mostly European such as Halloween or Strato
...now,about the melody thing...where exactly did you see/hear it?there is simply no melody here and that's exactly the reason why I don't like US bands.they all sound so dull/boring and repetitive in their riffing without any catchy memorable hooks/melodies.and it's exactly their rythm guitar style that gives them their thrashy sound.if you want melody/catchy riffs etc stick to european bands.they are the masters at that.the only thing you're partly correct about is the vocals...
The entire thing is melodic. The opening riff has a wonderful melody, the as does the bass line. There are catchy, great melodies all over it.
The problem with Euro power is that the guitar is often demoted to playing the same two or three backing chords as fast as possible while the vocalist goes over the top instead of making any coherent melody. The only notable melodies in Euro power tend to be the keyboards.
I don't know man,I don't see/hear any of these things you say-in fact, for me it's exactly the other way round...anyway,we obviously have very different taste/ear for music,so it's pointless to argue any further...bye
