Try joining a church, if you're not sure which denomination you can try "shopping" around. I personally am Catholic and think it's one of the more "mellow" churches if you're not looking to get swamped or have church members invade your life...but that's my own personal view......and don't believe what movies depict about nuns hitting you with rulers and all priests performing exorcisms lol that's all for drama.

I think that's hard for everyone to overcome. We can all stand to give more, and if we don't have the money, just giving time to help others is always a good thing. I can't pray for you to become closer to God, that's a choice you have to make. I'm guessing you're young and am not sure if you're sincere...but if you are it'll come in time whether you were brought up believing or not...you'll reach a point in your life when your eyes will open and you'll see the truth and feel the comfort...

God gives free will to believe or not. But all of our choices in this life will affect us in the afterlife and I imagine those of our loved ones as well if we're not with them...

The last really hard time I went through in my life was doubt last year. It lasted for a couple of months. During that time I actually wanted to read the Bible and actually know Jesus and was sorry for not knowing Him better. That was a real tough time. Now it seems like I don't care anymore and I know I need help for this.

I believe God reveals himself to everyone at least once in their lives, like a miracle or a near death experience or a life lesson (hard times, good times). I believe I've experienced all those myself, the near death one at least a couple of times. The miracle in my youth, although I didn't know it at the time but my family did... (long story). You have to find God yourself, a pastor/priest can't find him for you. The hard times make you stronger spiritually and mentally. Hope that makes sense:)
