Archimedes screw pump was inventable in remote prehistory.

The shell of some marine gastropods makes a perfect screw pump.
This experiment proves that a mere shell of Oxymeris maculata - specially if its tip is (naturally or not) broken - constitute a proof of concept of the screw pump.

The experiment lets also think that the Archimedean screw could have been invented in the most remote prehistory,

Remains to be proven : a functional screw pump is feasible with australopithecus technology :-) [[ok, australopithecus didn't need screw pumps]]

  • @MrCammo789

I used a small quantity of coffee :-) because water was almost "invisible".

I was surprised to see that it worked even when the surface of the liquid was very low (far from submerging the "mouth" of the pump).

  • Cool!
