Caterham chases Ferrari 360 challenge racecar at a wet donnington... truth is we are both monstrously slow..... but at least the sound is quite raw. Had to short shift down the pit straight in case your wondering why the Fezza pulls away.

  • is this a r500?

  • no, it was the first ever duratec powered Caterham using the same engine as the new R500 seen on top gear recently, but at a lower state of tune at just ~215bhp. Funny you should ask though as it was developed and built by the very same person who has developed the new R500 engine at caterham cars.

  • This guy doesn't hit the gas as hard as he could!!It seems he's just have a sweet ballad....

  • early development, car had all sorts of handling problems with mis matched springs, wrong gearbox, short shifting so that i wasnt chucked off for noise and it was wet/greasy... see my profile for another video thats over 10 secs quicker per lap at ~1.17/~1.18

  • Yes, its not a csr, rather, a custom built car based on a standard series 3 chassis. It was built with a 2.0 duratec engine some years before caterham adopted it.... the first duratec seven built in the UK to my knowledge.

  • proper 360 GT challenge car. 1100kg, 445 bhp etc.. An awful lot quicker than a road going Stradale.

  • LOL from being the last car it beated all cars to being firs, look the much faster acceralatincompare to the others racecars while the caterham beat em

  • The R500 moto was developed by Raceline, not Caterham! Anyone can buy the engine and from many tuners.

  • the dude certainly knows how to drive a car.

  • Very brave to be doing that at Donington in the wet.

  • so race dry!!! xD

  • thnks..i'm only asking because i had my first ever drive in a caterham at brands last saturday during villagers day..never been in one before and fell in love..it was not on the track but the slalom track near the rally stage..not a 500 but wow love the power slides...ok i'm now hooked....loved the atom ..but now would prefer a caterham....thnks for the info

  • HAHA as much as I like the Atom I would hardly say its practical!... :P
