Hey, Richard Christie's dad does generator reviews!

@wingerrrrrrrrr I did not try with and without the oil switch connected. I an not worried about stopping it with the remote, just having low oil ruin the engine. I will warn that after several hours of operation, you need to tighten any bolt and nut you can get to. Mine did develop a small oil leak.

Did you confirm that the low oil switch needs to be connected to kill the engine?
If they designed it to be more failsafe, it would have to be connected to enable the engine to run, and if it were disconnected or if the switch opens up when it was low oil, it would stop the engine. For the engine safety to be disabled if the wire was broken or disconnected wouldn't be too ideal from a protection standpoint-

Excellent review, you hit every question I had about the unit with regard to the remote starting. I was wondering how the choke would be handled if it was manual only, so it was helpful knowing the unit is able to take care of it automatically.

If it's similar to car remote keyfobs, you might try putting the remote up to your chin while pressing the button, to focus the RF signal in one direction for extended range.
Otherwise, the RF signal is broadcast omnidirectionally, and weaker than when it's directed.
This works for most of these types of RF keyfobs.

You do have better luck pointing to the generator, but I was testing inside the shop to see how much obstructions would block the signal. Line of sight is much better.
