  • What Is the length of your H-beam In feet? Im looking for a starting point on mine. Very well built log splitter you have. Good job!

  • @scotts01Z71 Hi,the beam is 5 feet 7inches long for a ram with an 18inch stroke .Thanks Alan

  • Looks good. I have built many splitters.

I would re-enforce the beam from the wedge like you have but extend it further past the cutting edge-- Beams will distort there too.

Also looks a bit over filtered. I would just filter the return line.

Keep up the good work !

  • @kitfoxflyer Hi thanks for the advice, this is only my first attempt, you learn as you go along, already started my second machine and come up with some new ideas. Thanks Alan

  • Shepherdsurs do have plans for this machine. Beautiful job. I'm looking to build a log splitter. If you have plans would be great. Thanks

  • @MrDogmeat1 Hi,I don't have any plans for it, just made it up as I went along but would be more than happy to help with any information or advice, just ask. Thanks Alan

  • Hi do you have a log splitter featured for sale?

    Glenn

  • Very nice construction. I too am a fan of the diesel motors. One of these days perhaps I too will build a diesel-powered log splitter. Until then, I have a few Kohler "K Series" motors to use! Cheers.

    Looks good.

  • better than any store bought unit i have seen , if you do have plans for one and or a material list please send it to me. id really like to use your concept. two thumbs up.

  • Best yet ,but i would say it cost a fow bob to make, and getting a jcb ram must of been a challenge-nice one though.

  • @kitfoxflyer the only thing I disagree with is the over filter comment. Hydraulic components last forever if the oil is clean. You cannot over filter any hydraulic system. This is 20 years in the hydraulic business talking here.
