whats that blinking (opening and closing) coral at 1:12?

I have a 47 gallon column tank. I want to turn it into a reef tank. Could i get away with just having a HOB protein skimmer for filtration? I have absolutley no room for a sump.

Why didn't you just get a 10 gal there 20" ?

Reefadvicer, 20" is too big for this stand. Max that fits is 18". Besides, i was able too get 5 more gal also by going with this set up.

I have a 30 gal cube. I racked my brain for a while trying to get a sump/refugium in the cabinet. Finally it dawned on me if I cut out 3/4 of a inch out of the back a 10 gallon stock tank would fit. Check out my video.
Thanks for the video!

This is an awesome tank man, thanks for posting the video! I have basically the exact same setup in the works, including the stand (which I just found on craigslist yesterday, i can't believe how well it works with the tank). I am currently wrestling with what to use for the sump... looks like that tupperware worked out really well for you. Do you have it divided up into an equipment chamber and pumping chamber? Or is everything just sitting in there?

@newbuddy987 no there are no chambers and I really dont get any microbubbles with the reef octopus skimmer. I just make sure all outlets are pointed away from the return pump.
