The sole album from Highway Robbery offers some rough 'n' raw proto-metal nuggets such as the reverb-chamber rattling "Fifteen," bluesy menace of "I'll Do It All Again," and driving riff monster "Lazy Woman," which is sweetened with some nice vocal harmonies.

But for all their heaviness, this is a band that still had one foot planted deep in the sixties, as evidenced in the tribal stomp of "Mystery Rider" and tracks like "Bells" and "All I Need (To Have Is You)," which possess a laid back west coast vibe.

Highway Robbery is a solid release that's nevertheless a little behind the times for '72 in it's Cream-leaning power trio ruckus vs. polished riffage, and while it delivers for a vintage obscurity, don't drop a mountain of cash on this one expecting something as consistently rockin' as other '72 offerings like Vol. 4, Squawk, or Captain Beyond. • This band is/was excellent. It's a shame the radio didn't play a bigger variety of Rock N Roll back then, people missed out on alot of great stuff. THANKS FOR YOU-TUBE!

  • FUCKING MEEERRRZZZZBBBBOOOOOWWWWW

  • This is maybe the best song on the album, that have only great and greater tunes on it. I mean the Ramones first is like this, but people call Highway Robbery metal !?

  • merzbow brought me here

  • Great band. One of my favorites from the 1970-ties, bought the record in 1976 and have kept it since.

  • Wow Killer!! Awesome...

  • GOD I LOVE THIS STUFF

  • @mrhoffame

As we've come to find out over the years bands were given airtime by their managers bribing the "superstations" to play their albums. These guys clearly were very talented, and were so far ahead of their time. If you don't believe me, take a listen to anything Jack White's currently doing with the Raconteurs. Unfortunately, the best in the music industry aren't always the most successful.

  • I think, Lemmy had this album since 1972!
