The sherpas, just like any other nepalese from the himilayas, can apply for the gurkhas and I have heard of a few joining it.
So there you go, Sherpas in the gurkhas being badass around the world.

I've met people like this. It's amazing they can trek far far into the mountains yet they have a hard time taking the subway in big cities
