The Library was the only part not destroyed in the fire due to its large steel doors being shut.

The reason why you couldn't take pictures or film is because you went during the weekdays when people are working. On the weekend it's all good.

Underneath the floor is a vault for a book. In the book there are hand painted pictures from the early 1800's. The only time the Canadian parliament took this book out was when the Chinese Prime minister came to Canada. He liked pictures of birds and art so they let him look at it.

@Winston2004 Actually The Parliamentary Library was un-touched by the fire.

@TheUniverse3000 You have to be bilingual for one. Ottawa operates on mostly the french language. You can speak english but you will lose out on little perks if you do.

I wonder how much experience is required to work at such a library?
I would love to stay at such a library until closing time, reading books when off the clock.

we werent allowed to take photos.. the guide like stole my friends camera and deleted all of her photos.. even the ones NOT of the library.. and they all spazzed out at her sayin she took it on purpose, but she was like.. well i forgot that i wasn't allowed to, and i saw a cool shot.. but no.. the guides were being rude.

We werent supposed to take photos when we went in their either but I did and by the time I was told be the guard not to I already had a nice pic.

what the heck, when i went there they had guards and decoys watching us just incase we took photos or video taped it. your lucky u must of had a good tour guide.
