You might consider doing the Baroque trills in the Baroque style. This is a bit stiff. Having your eyes glued to the sheet music is probably part of it; consider improvising...it's not that hard and you are not really following the original score any way. Lost in history is the ability to improvise.

I first heard the Canon in D in an 8 minute recording and most 4-5 minute recordings in a concert setting have rushed this beautiful piece with a modified score and in my opinion implied on behalf of the conductor, "I played it, now on to something else".
In this setting Donna Novack and Lauren Erickson have performed a delightful version with some flair that distinguishes it from other performers. Very, Very good work!
