A group of media people from the national dailies in the Philippines recently visited the town of San Vicente, Palawan to witness how a mountain is being "raped" by the town's own mayor to satisfy the whims of a foreign investor. Although, the mayor, Antonio Gonzalez, and four others Coron vice mayor Joseph Armstrong Palanca, Busuanga mayor Samuel de Jesus, former Sofronio Española mayor Iber Chou and foreign investor Michael Gleissner were already ordered by the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) to cease and desist from their illegal activities they are still continuously raping the mountain. Gleissner is reportedly building a highend resort. He bought the fishpond of mayor Gonzalez and then illegally excavated a nearby mountain to fill up the hollow portions of the ponds to level them. Recent inspection of the area showed some heavy equipment still operating, hauling and transferring excavated quarry materials which were being dumped in the fishpond in an apparent disregard of the cease and desist order.
Great job on the video... this is horrible for the environment!... keep exposing these bastards!!!

just google "power and plunder palawan"
to find some data on "the good old days"..
"Granted by Ferdinand Marcos, Alvarez's logging concessions cover 61 percent of the island's productive forest. Alvarez's annual Palawan revenues of S24 million, are 24 times the island's provincial budget."
Not enough ?

the last frontier? tang ina nyo! this will only benefit the rich and the annoying luxury 5star hotel tourist types. palawan is not boracay, bali, nor thailand. walang kagandahan ito sa future ng buong palawan.
