Arvind Gupta is a member of the IDEO's leadership team in Asia. He recently relocated from the Bay Area in the US to China to be immersed in the rapid changes in Asia. As a member of the IDEO Asia leadership team, he is responsible for several key Asian client relationships driving content excellence in the Shanghai office.

He sees design as a way of thinking that can be used to artfully and effectively solve problems large and small

Arvind, in this talk, maintains that the new currency of the New Silk Road is Purpose and Creativity. " If there is nothing you need to do when you wake up in the morning, then you will probably end up doing what you Want to do! " He says that you have to find Purpose in your life first. And Creativity is the currency of purpose. So you need to combine creativity+purpose to find meaning. And sometimes you have to go beyond your boundaries, to find your purpose in life. About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

This is the story of a fascinating man, who, in some ways, reminded me of Steve Jobs, but the theme of the talk is "what is your purpose?"
