This is the first of the concoction videos that I will be posting. I make many concoctions based on what I have tried, and found works for my hair. This is one of them. The measurements I listed, are just what worked for me; they may or may not work for your hair. Just do a sample first, to see what works best for you. In this presentation, I used solid, unmelted butters, but I sometimes make this with heated butters as well.

Product Information: The Shea butter, Coco Butter, and Coconut oil, are all un-refined, and bought from (African and Asian grocers/supermarkets). The grapeseed oil, I bought from Burlington Coat Factory; and the rest are from regular beauty stores and wholefoods.

Usage: I mainly use this mixture (and other shea-butter-based products) when it is cold, and as a hair protectant against dryness. I also, regardless of the weather, use it (as needed) on the ends of my hair. This mixture helps my hair stay detangled and soft.

Questions: Please comment/ e-mail me.

Reason for Posting: My hope is to be able to help someone who can use this information. We all have different hair textures, just as we have varying shades of skin. So, if what works for me, works for you, GREAT!!!!

I hope that you enjoy this video.

  • Hello Slo1986,

I actually added this info. in the side-bar of the video; however, I bought these ones, and usually buy the coconut oil from middle eastern bazaar, or super market; and Wholefoods carries glycerine. You can also buy vegetable glycerine online. For the glycerine: If at wholefoods, check in the skin/hair care or baking ingredient sections- or just ask one of the patrons to help you find it.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your weekend:)
