@KinletHallsthebest yeah. True. On the other hand she is determined to carry on Flying...albeit to Scarborough and not to Scotland, whereas ur modern diesel/electrical loco would just call in sick. I think she is due to start railtours in UK in 2012.

itll be nice when shes left NRM works. Then they can concentrate on something else if needed

Sounds really quite ill in this video. Rods banging away and that bad leak from the Right hand piston gland. Hard to hear the beat of the engine but the timing dosnt sound 100% either, not the usual syncopated Gresley beat.

is it just me, or is the Flying Scotsman's whistle different in every video I see?

it saod Hogwarts Railways OMG did u manage to sit in her cab? She's amazing in there
LOL I can tell the chugging is off on the Flying Scottsman! Its suppose to be 4 chugs per Revolution of the wheels. Well that is how it is here in America with our steamers. With the Flying Scottsman its like 6 to 8 chufs per Revolution. Great video and I have always loved the Flying Scottsman.

Well not quite. The Scotsman has 6 beats per rotation as it has three cylinders. You get 4 beats per rotation of of 2 and 4 cylinder engines.

@jmmrtcl Don't you get 8 with 4 cylinder engines?

@KeyToTime. Sometimes, The only british loco that i know that has 8 beats is Lord Nelson otherwise the cylinders work in pairs giving 4 beats (e.g. GWR Kings)
