Mystique Showing Signs of IBD

Repterra is posting this video is to bring awarness to IBD (Inclusion Body Disease). The disease is fatal and only effects boas & pythons. While little is known about the potentail casie of this disease, it has been proven to be 100% fatal and highly contagious.

Mystique was a Burmese Python we rescued and was an extremley dociile snake who almost seemed to enjoy human companionship. Unfortunatley, Mystique became a victim of this deadly disease and passed away shortly after this video was taken.

That is sad if your boa has it. We just recently did a rescue for a Red Tail and it turned out to be IBD. She was a beautiful one too...such a shame. f you have any other boas or pythons I recommend quarantining them and cleaning all the tanks and accessories asap! IBD is such a nasty disease and can spread rapidly through a collection. There are several vets and labs working diligently to find a treatment or cure for this, let's all hope their work pays off soon!

I'm sooo afraid my pythons are going to get IBD... Everytime I buy a new snake I freak out, what if this one is carrying it??

I have a burm I'm starting to worry about; he's got this weird head twitch thing going on (only when he's lying still though). And he'll stare up at the top of his tank sometimes for an hour at a time... But he doesn't have any trouble with motor functions so I'm just not sure :I
