@conservativeforlife That is why K9 handlers should not make a noise after giving the find command and should only stop moving or change body posture if the K9 displays changes in behavior or an alert that are consistent with past changes in behaviors or alerts where narcotics odors have been present.
All this is good but if this guy is an ex K9 handler, then he should know that a good handler, will proof his dog off of food, animals, and any other odor that is not a narcotic odor, and will also have very good documentation of training reports and incident reports. The false positive is true. A dog will do that if the handler changes body posture, slows down or just makes a different noise.
the cover scent is interesting but say the pot is under the hood and the cover scent is placed in the trunk and on the tires, wouldnt they just search the whole car if the dog hits? even if he is hitting all over the place or everywhere but the rigth spot?
so what about a container that has pot in it but is vacuum sealed? would the odor be able to permeate out of say a glass jar that has been sealed with a vac sealer? since the air pressure inside the jar would be negative pressure if there were microscopic pores in the glass, then wouldnt the negative pressure keep the air inside from flowing out since any slow leak would consist of outside air permeating in to the inside of the jar and not the other way around?
