Eric Idle sings a little ditty (12 years in the making), "Life Will Get You In The End." The song was performed on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on July 6, 2009. Of course, this is only a way to share the great music of Mr. Idle and good humor of Mr. Ferguson and I hold no copyrights to the video or music (no matter how flat out awesomely funny it may be).

The video was nabbed from Malinky2Stoatir http://www.youtube.com/user/Malinky2Stoatir

The lyrics were nabbed from lnrhcp's post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ4DImzgwfs

Life will get you in the end
On this one thing you can depend
When you're on the bridge of death
Don't hold your final breath
'Cause life will get you in the end

Life can drive you 'round the bend
You think it's never gonna end
Then somebody comes along
And reminds you in a song
That life will get you in the end

Rattling 'round the Universe
As a human being, well... it could be worse
Life's a gift, it's not a curse
So live, cor blimey!

And life will get you in the end
And so, farewell to you my friend
One final thing to try
Is bend and kiss your ass goodbye
'Cause life will get you in the end

  • The lyric is: So live. Cor blimey!

(Cor blimey being very old English.)

  • Sounds right. Thanks!

  • hi onward

    great song, isn't it?

did U pick the lyrics yourself?

and if so, could it be that he rather sings: "so let go, blimey"?

  • I got the lyrics from the same song posted by lnrhcp.

You're right that the song makes more sense as "let go" rather than "live, go."

To me, though-- looking at the way Eric sings the song, it looks like his lips are shaped more in a "soft" consonant sound ("v") than a "hard" consonant sound ("t").

    Lyrics are weird.

    Glad you like it.

  • I bet it was!

  • I am publicly stating that I want this song played at my funeral.

(Not that I'm planning to have that event happen anytime soon...but still.)

  • That guy is such a genius. I'd love the late late show =)
