Mac OS 8 Copland makes it easier to to move files between disks and folders. A user drags a document over a disk or folder icon and pauses, a window opens for that disk or folder. By dragging and pausing over additional folder icons, the user navigates to the target folder. Once the user drops the document onto its destination, the window for the target is left open and other windows opened along the way are closed automatically.
This feature debuted in Mac OS 8.0, disappeared in Mac OS X 10.0 and a version of the feature returned in Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar by popular demand.
