These are the very fast Dover HIGHdraulic South Elevators, unmodded (hopefully will remain such), at Saint Joseph Hospital, Nashua, New Hampshire.
These are FAST for hydros! Not out of the ordinary for industrial-strength Dovers they would produce, but these fly at 200 feet per minute, which is nearly unheard of in a modern hydro system (they do exist, but are very rare).
The rides themselves aren't the greatest, a bit bumpy, but overall, very solid, and you just can't get enough of the EPIC STARTUP the middle lift has. There is a decent startup on the left one (facing them from the hall), but for a moment, I thought I rode all 3, when in fact, I had a "TheElevatorChannel" Moment, and rode one twice by mistake. :) It's not a bad error, because you get to hear a lot more epic startups! Giving the right-hand lift to that guy threw off my game a little bit. Oh, well.

  • Those are some nice elevators, and what was the capacity? Also, I remember the elevators from the Dobie Mall Parking Garage sounded like these elevators until 2007 when the power unit was replaced, and I think these elevators are from the late 1970's.

  • @CaptainElevator42189

No idea what the capacity is, since when these were shot, I still didn't look at the capacity (the backlog has plenty of videos over 1 year old, with newer ones in between).

  • On the interior indicator for some reason I would think they would have placed the up arrow next to the highest floor on the elevator not next to the lowest floor vise versa with down arrow

  • @gta4life55

I think the Up arrows are on the left, Down on the right, on most elevators. At least ones I've seen.

  • Dry-powered belt units are definitely the way to go. A large spindle attached to the motor drives belts attached to a much smaller spindle, which spins the pump twice as fast as the motor spins. This gear-logic allows for those high-speeds and dramatic sounds, but comes at the price at a much more powerful motor, one that consumes more electricity and money. Unfortunately, compact submersible units are dominating the market today.

Granted, this is New Hampshire, but I've read Massachusetts codes, which hydraulics can be made as high as 500FPM to fit certain criteria (current oil technologies). I don't know about you, but I've never seen a 500FPM Hydro. They were not including the bonifide water-based in that.

Anyhow, I'd figure you'd chime in on these epic motors. :) I know how much you like them.

    The middle one, especially.

  • @NEXPAR

I mistakenly thought I didn't ride the middle one, so it was done twice, and realized it after watching the video. Giving the right lift to that guy threw my game off.

She was very nice about it. We were both laughing when we met again in the left lift.

  • Wait a minute, I thought hydraulic elevators had to be over 6 levels in order to qualify as "Highdraulics". I noticed you checked the phone twice in the middle one.

At least the lady was not nasty about your hobby when she said "amazing what people will do". Without all the outrageous government spending and crazy laws they want to pass and all the reality shows, it makes elevator filming look like a picnic.

  • 3 words: EPIC DOVER MOTOR!
