It was Oscar Straus' music for the film "La Ronde" - based on Arthur Schnitzler's "Reigen" - which spread throughout the world in innumerable arrangements in the years following the appearance of MAx Ophuel's film from 1950. The "La Ronde Waltz" had Parisian flair, and yet was Viennese in all its fine nuances.

Yes, it is a most elegant film and it was a sensation all over the world when it was first released. It ran for months on end in London. There were queues for every performance. Everyone in the cast is excellent and the direction is immaculate. It has dated, but only in the most charming way and still remains a great entertainment.
