This is a transcription of one of Chuck Close's self-portraits that I drew for a homework for my AS art. I decided to use the grid technique that Chuck Close often uses.
Materials used:
-HB pencil
-3B pencil
-Rubber/eraser
Took me approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete :)

@kittykaoticx Yeah the grid is nice but i don't like how my drawings look a bit blocky afterwards as if it was a patchwork quilt made by several artists pieced together. If you can create astonishing work while keeping perspectives in check then freehand is the way to go in my opinion. Freehand is my first choice also but the grid can be very effective as you have demonstrated here. Great work keep it up.

with that tecnic you lose the sense and the meaning of drawing....i dont say it is a bad portrait however i totally disagree with your method:)

c'est pas de l'art dessiner avec des carreaux sur un petit format comme support, DISSLIKE your method for drawing , draw without square.

@ABANAN96 Thank you very much :). No, this was the only time I used the grid method. I prefer free-hand drawing as I don't like the lines of the grid showing.
