When I set up this for this site I too had a problem understanding how these "nameservers" were supposed to work and how to use them. For this very reason, I created this tutorial on how to connect your domain to your website's hosting.

Is addon domain so that you can enter your .com domain rather than the default byethost URL? As in, my .com will take me to my byethost website I've already created?

hmmm... what would you enter in if you host your own website on a personal webserver? anyone can get to my site by typing in my ip address, but would I enter that in to the "Nameerver 1" space on godaddy?
