This initially aired for sponsor Procter & Gamble on Thursdays at 9:30pm(et) [following "MY THREE SONS"], moving to Fridays at 7:30pm(et) in March 1962 before its was cancelled. The two writers that developed and produced this show, Hal Goodman & Larry Klein, later tried selling NBC a 1965 sitcom pilot about life in the "Stone Age" {sort of a live-actrion "FLINTSTONES"}, "THE GOOD OLD DAYS", starring Darryl Hickman (Dwayne's brother) and Chris Noel (it was "burned off" in July 1966).

The series was based on the 1946 movie of the same name (starring Jeannie Crain).

Thanks to the poster of this old, and long forgotten series. Very odd to watch it now as it's almost impossible to pickup from the show that it's supposed to be set in the 20s. It would be interesting if contemporary viewers in 1960 caught more period queues we would now. I wonder if the viewers of 'That Severities Show' will have the same problem in another 40 years.

"Supposed to" take place in the 1920s is right. Thanks for posting. But on seeing this show, I'm kind of disappointed because it seems the producers thought that to recreate the '20s, all they had to do was replace the names of Elvis, Ricky Nelson, etc. with those of Paul Whiteman, Ben Bernie, Rudy Vallee, etc., plus show the old cars. The kids and adults all show all the cultural mannerisms and behaviors of the '50s, not the '20s.
