  • Shooting a hog...when shooting a boar try to place the shot just behind the ear or forward of the chest where the heart is located. Also, consider a spear among your weapons if you have to follow the hog into the palmettos after the shot. A cross bow becomes cumbersome among the brush and a spear is better for defending yourself and finishing the hog off.

  • For those who have commented buy a longer cocking rope or you do not have to lift it over the scope you do in fact have to perform this action. A longer rope would mean ou have to coil up the extra length around something and then pull up to cock the string. The scope is in the way of the cocking rope so you have to lift it over the scope. If you put the rope on the back first then you have to pull the bow string back to catch the hook. This is painful on the hands.

  • Greetings all. I have a Facebook Page called "Hunting 101 - The Basics of Hunting. It is a community page and if you select "Like" you will receive periodic tips, suggestions, and advice from real hunters who hunt on a shoe string budget and are willing to share what they have learned. Also, once you click "Like" and have a tip to share go ahead and post.

  • decent video but you are putting in way to much effort to cock your bow. First go buy a longer cocking rope, you should be able to hook one side flip over the notch and flip the other and never use your thumb for lefting up the arrow brace, it should easily slide under it. with the way your going you will be mr 4 finger really soon.

  • @cwelkman Great points and will begin to look for a longer cocking rope. I like the built in cocking handles. With a built in handle it is one less thing to forget when packing for a hunting trip.

  • my dad uses one because he hurt his shoulder at work and cant accuratly shoot a compund but he loves his...hes watched every deer hes shot die they are very accurate and fast...also he found out that flat nocks shoot better than the half moon style

  • @easternrider2012 I have used both flat nocks and half moon. They are so fast when released it is difficult to detail any differences.

  • uhh i wanna get one

  • You don't lift the rope over the scope. Just put one hook on and run it up the left side and around the back like the instructional book say's. Idiot

  • Great video for clarifying how to cock this crossbow!

  • That was a really informative video, and I got like 3 different tips just by reading your comments. Thanks a lot man. :)

  • put the rope on the back first, then put the hooks on the string*

  • @dave56bug price?

  • @ripymf Excalibur Phoenix.

  • What kind of Crossbow would you recommend for someone who is getting into Crossbows? Not for hunting but for general marksmanship
