  • Great video, I was thinking about doing something like this, up here in NJ we have lots of gravel and debris on the roads and I have had to replace a condenser.

I haven't had much luck with zip ties weathering well, I used them in my garden and attic and they dry rotted. I would maybe use some silicone caulk

  • @vadodarya

The UV rated zip ties are OK to use. I've also used stainless steel wire (about 16-18 ga) and looped it through and twisted it to keep it in place. Don't over twist, or the wire will cut into the grille and or the plastic pillars.

  • Excellent fix. I just stumbled onto your channel while checking out parts for my 08 Accord Cpe. I'm definitely going to do this...I have a few road trips (DC to Southern VA and then DC to TN) coming up this month and I want to be sure my car is set.

Question - You said your trim was Taco Metals flex trim. What are the specs on that? I found a bunch of different versions on amazon and ebay but wasn't sure what you found to be best sizing with the leaf guard. Thanks!

  • @kmickey007

The trim I used was 1/4’’ Opening x 1/2’’ Flex Trim. They also have 3/16" Opening at 1/2" or 9/16" deep. Any of those sizes will work.

I wound up leaving the leaf guard grille, but adding a modified 2009 Odyssey lower grille in front of the leaf guard - it's nearly a perfect match for the upper grille.

For some more ideas, check out the Accord forum: my8thgen.

  • @ManClubAustin About to spend $400 tomorrow to repair my condenser. Trying to find the trim to suit. Autozone and Advanced have nothing. I don't really want to spend 45 bucks for 25ft of the stuff either. You you know where else I can get some??

  • @zflyingtrumpet

Some guys have used "Door Edge Trim" that can be purchased at any auto parts store. It uses glue instead of metal crimping clips. It's pretty cheap, too...

The other alternative is buying the 2009 Honda Odyssey lower grille garnish and cutting it to fit the hole. This is what I've done since making the video. Then you just cut the leaf guard slightly slower and attach it to the Odyssey grille.

Amazing! You have truly harnessed the power of observation! I am white, and of the male gender. I also know how to construct full sentences with proper grammar. Perhaps you should acquire that power before leaving your next meritless comment on youtube.

  • Hi is there a way to get a copy of that template you made for my 2010 Accord Coupe? I ordered the trim and the mesh grille but if you could send me a copy of your template that would be awesome. My email address is arleighsimon@yahoo.com

  • @ManClubAustin Thanks. I bought the Door Edge Trim today. Will fit it tomorrow.

  • I did that to my accord last week but use chrome edge trim from autozone
