Outtake from the San Diego, CA show shot at the Sports Arena - June 2 1974, during the Shinin' On Tour. "I'm Your Captain / Closer To Home" didn't make it on the laser disc and VHS [released in Japan 1986] probably due to lighting and sound problems. Additionally, the big movie screen above the stage was supposedly showing flying gulls with sound of breaking waves, during the intro for the song...
In September / October 1974 Mark, Don, Mel and Craig produced the video-taped concert into a full length feature film for European release, plus a shorter special for US television. Unfortunately neither happened, although a re-edited 55min cut-version [to fit the 60 mins limitation of laser discs back then] found it's way to Japan unofficially [through Lynn Goldsmith] 12 years later... Well, not that bad if you compare it with the 38year -so far- delay of Shea Stadium...
Anyway, many thanks to my friend Larry and some more real fans who surfaced it!
Great video. I bought a VHS tape back in the 80s of this concert. Came from Japan. Funny thing this song was left out oddly. Never understood why. Thanks for sharing.

Saw them on the We're An American Band tour in 1973 in Corpus Christi. Still one of the best shows I ever saw. I have listened to GFR ever since.
