This video illustrates how early traffic signals warned motorists of approaching trains at intersections where railroad tracks actually shared the roadway with automobiles. The purpose of this video is to assist signal collectors in designing accurate replica displays and for viewing by traffic signal enthusiasts.

  • i like this good gob

  • Thank you for your well done video, horse!

But why not give vehicles ahead of the train a green signal?

Green allows everyone to proceed and move out of the way.

They can't pull over if vehicles ahead are stopped.

As a little boy in visiting grandparents in Lewsitown, PA, I remember a STEAM LOCOMOTIVE approaching behind our car. I was a little worried it would catch up to us. The track is in the middle of the street.

Sorry my father did not pull over and stop and allow us to watch.

  • We need this today for our surface LRT lines in Los Angeles. Currently there is no signal preemption for our street running sections... Ahh the politics of car culture...

  • NOw where did you find the traffic signals and the RR one I'd love to get a RR one like that for my dad.
