SO SAD....The indoor entertainment center of Buffalo, NY 1939 - 1996 had 14,000 seats, until 1971 when the roof was raised adding onto the Orange Section for a capacity of 16,000. Located on the waterfront of Lake Erie and home of the following Buffalo sports teams: Sabres, Braves, Stallions, Bandits and Blizzard. Other events there included Ice Capades, Circus, Wrestling, Boxing and my favorites: CONCERTS, CONCERTS, CONCERTS!!! Western New York fans of "The Aud" were saddened the structure couldn't be saved; auctions were held for the salvaged seats from the different levels (lowers to uppers in order went Gold, Red, Blue, Orange). The final concert at the Aud was AC/DC (we were there)! The Auditorium's replacement, the nearby modern HSBC Arena opened in 1996. This sunny April Sunday visit to say good-bye to our old friend was filled w/ years of favorite memories. My girlfriend Sammy operates a Cat machine working on the demolition job!

  • I drove by there on Tuesday and it looks the same. What are those bags hanging from the roof?

  • I think what you're seeing are the ceiling sound-tiles.

  • ENOUGH WITH THE BUZZING!

  • the BUZZING is the Metro-Rail

  • i love how bass pro destroyed this old friend then they never did anything there... thanks alot bass pro

  • @bonigoalie - Those were giant cigarette butts.

  • looks like this would be in an apocalypse movie

  • the metro sounds like the cheers/ horns/ boos of the fans that used to go there

  • Im so figgin mad! They're tearin down year and years of sabres, Bandits etc. history! I know it had to happen, but im still mad!

  • So just recently they've torn it down?!

Sorry I'm from where the Jets used to be. Most of this footage is eerie to watch. 4:11 for example. Still it was sad to watch that "barn" go down in 2006. Sadder was having attended the last game in Apr of 1996.

The funny part is that when the demolition crew were there to do their thing it didn't go according to plan...originally anyway.

  • Damn. They tore it down. I saw so many concerts here. Led Zepplin July 1973 was an awesome show.
