If you have to crash a tree's a good option, isn't it? Better to knacker fabric than bone. - Hey, anyone interested in forming a club along the lines of the caterpillar club in the war? A club for all intrepid birdmen who have 'roosted' in trees!

Happens to more pg pilots than would ever admit to it!

Glad you're okay and I want to add a heart felt thank you for the "double check" lesson (I read your detailed comments).
Great reminder for me...have to admit I might not look as closely as I should sometimes...
Your's is a great reminder and I'll make sure to pay closer attention.

Great Footage Howard. Glad your OK.
I have flown from Ceret many times and know that launch area well. It is a rather intimidating launch as it is very narrow and not that long so you have to be committed.
Easy to miss and line overs etc on that launch.

So many 'Experts' and 'Arm Chair Flyers'. eh Howard?
100% thumbs up for posting and sharing and 100% big smiles for walking away unhurt.
See you at cloudbase in Greece very soon!
Thanks - there are a few less comments now, some people just don't know when to give up!
Since making the video I have obtained some photos of the wing just after TO. It showed I had a upper brake line cascade knotted around the first C and D risers on the right side of the wing. Amazing the wing flew as well as it did.

Well what I noticed right from launch you had too much of brake inputs. It is good advise when flying in sink to fly as fast as possible "No brake"
If you have only one twist of brake line it pose no major problem, but if you got many twists better to forget brake handle & go for "D" riser to control glider. when you get sufficient height untwist them. you untwisted the right brake line at 1:28.OK

The reason for the excessive brake was to keep flying straight and through the gap in the trees. I was not flying in sink my wing had a large deformation on the right above my head - hence the poor glide ratio and tendency to turn right. Please read link in description to gain a better understanding of the situation. Thanks for your post. P.S I should have used more weight shift and no brake but I was still unlikely to make the emergency landing field.
