I threw my "Stage 3" Z31 Turbo on the dyno for a baseline before I install a new turbo, injectors, FMIC, etc.

The relevant mods are:
K&N 9" cone intake filter
Certified Muffler 3" Turbo-back exhaust
Manual boost controller set to 10PSI

Otherwise the car is (for practical purposes on the dyno) stock.

Dyno performed at RCT Performance (www.rctperformance.com) in College Point, NY.

  • Now i have a 87 tt Turbo, why should i take off the emergence valve?

  • @HOTSOUPP1 If you want to raise the boost pressure past stock, you must replace it with a plug. Otherwise, there is no reason to remove it.

  • Generally speaking, stage 1 = intake, stage 2 = exhaust, stage 3 = ECU / increased boost. There are other stages (I've seen lists go up to 18 stages) but generally Stage 3 is as high as you can get before you need to upgrade the fuel system to allow for bigger turbos and/or NOS

  • The popoff valve is the thing that sticks out on the passenger side of the manifold towards the front of the car. You'll want to yank that thing out and put in the plug the NA cars have in its place

  • You won't need to tune the ECU for 10 PSI. I took off the pop-off valve and replaced it with the plug the NA cars have in its place.

  • is the pop off valve the front contraption or the rear one on the passenger side of the manifold? towards the front or back of the car?
