  • Charming song performed with great style by Gibbons and Savoy Orpheans in the Golden Days of the British Orchestras. Thanks Grzegorz!

  • Thanks Masquerade, in this recording the real revelation for me is the singing of Anne Lenner & George Melachrino. I remember from my early childhood the radio concerts with his name often mentioned as a bandleader, but I wouldn't ever think that earlier he used to be such a good singer!

  • Thanks fo posting this song. Just one thing - the female voice is ANNE Lenner, not Vanne. This I can tell you for certain because Anne Lenner is my Aunt.

  • Hi, and thanks!!! Ofcourse, I'm immediately correcting my note. So, you confirm it's her who sings here so beautifully ? I was not sure about it, as the label gives no details and only in the web I found some information about this recording (- not very correct, as it shows)

  • I love this, the music from this era is so much better than what we have today. Anne Lenner's voice is just lovely.

  • i love to go back to the days when my father (jimmy williams} played with carroll gibbons at the savoy...he played sax ,and was with him for some time .

  • I believe my uncle Jeff Pretty played piano in the Savoy Orpheans just before the war (he certainly played piano at the Savoy Hotel until the outbreak of war) but I am not sure when he started with them. Would you know the names of any of the artistes?

  • wonderful music, thank you very much lovely Genia

  • It is true. I remember that my father had a Strauss Waltzes LP from the end of the fifties played with bravura by Melachrino for RCA.
