This song pays homage to the Darkness and the Light. The words "Light and Dark, Dark and Light" form a circle to show that the Light and the Darkness are inseparable. The listener is invited to "see the world with Heaven's sight"...to look at the darkness from the perspective of Spirit. With this vision he can find the treasure in the night". So the song is an initiation, the opening of a door.

The first verses describe our humanness. We feel like we are on a spinning wheel and our "feet can barely touch the ground". This chaos however leads to our liberationit spins the gold that makes the crown once we embrace its meaning.




Part of the resolution lies in listening to our bodies and to the earth. So the song takes us to the forrest where we walk alone, stripped to our physical essence as "blood and bone", hearing our own footsteps. This can be a terrifying experience, but if we truly listen to the moaning of our hearts, then we allow the terror to take us home.

The final verses deal with the dissolution of self where our name-the symbol of our ego- is burned away, transformed into sacred ash. It is the last stage of the initiation, but since "nothing ever stays the same," it is also a beginninganother point on the circle.
