  • It's not so much the technique that many fine sopranos have that impresses here. Callas, as usual, is conveying a message. The words usually get lost in the coloratura or the sprightly rhythm of the Bolero with other performers.

    When she says "Thanks for the gift of flowers", she really means it, as well as spitting out "vendette orribili". Perhaps the sentiment of "ignoto amor balza il cor" is the reason she doesn't toss off the high C# in the last section like most other singers.
