You're officially my inspiration for making beautiful pottery. Not because some people may think you're "disadvantaged" (I personally think it's perfect and am considering surgery... just kidding), but because what I've seen you make, they are both great sizes! Too often I've bought mugs/cups that are just too small for me, now you've made me super excited to build my potter wheel! Thanks for putting up the videos, too bad you make it look so easy. Cheers again, plz upload more beautiful work!

Mr. Ingleton: Dan said you are a great potter; he was not kidding. If it weren't for that giant ocean btw the USA & UK, I'd be honored to become one of your students. I have such probs w/handles & have to pay special attn when throwing b/c I deal w/blindness w/residual vision & complications from SLE & Sjogren's. I'm sure there's lots I could learn from you. In fact, I'm sure you've forgotten more than I'll ever know about pottery. :) Great job. I'm subscribing in case more vids are in future.

Great vid Dick. I glanced over and read the "more info" and got a good chuckle! I think the board to wipe away slip rather than a towel makes great sense. The visual line you create in the mugs is sharp.
There's been a lot of interest in how I lost my hand. I was making fireworks out of weedkiller & sugar aged 14 and blew it off. I learned to pot with only one hand, so I've never missed it, in fact if I was offered a transplant I'd refuse it! I studied at Wigan School of Art under a fantastic potter, Alec. Woffenden in the 60's. I started Ingleton Pottery in the Yorkshire Dales in 1971. Any more questions, feel free to ask! Dick Unsworth.

If I wipe my hands on a towel or my trouser legs I'm in deep slip!

What perfect handles! Do you not need to score? Thanks for showing your technique! Very pretty.

Scratching the pot is unnecessary. The two pieces to be joined are of equal dampness and the slip "welds" them together. I've been doing it this way for 40 years without problems!
