i have ipod 1g and 3.0 version. while i was upgrading my ipod to 3.1.3 version in itunes it shows preparing ipod for restore.then,it comes 1601 error'and after that does not recognize my ipod in the PC or iTunes. so, then i tried iReb to put the ipod in DFU mode and then when i finish putting in DFU mode i opened iTunes and it recognize my ipod saying iTunes has found a ipod in recovery mode. then, i pressed shift and clicked restore and after shows that iPod 1601 'error'. plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help
HEY IM TRYING TO JAIL BREAK MY IPOD AND NOW I DOWN GRADED MY ITUNES I DOW NLOADED TINY UMBRELLA DID THE HOLE THING AND PUT IT TO RECOVER MODE THEN I PRESED SHIFT AND RESTORE ON ITUNES THEN I PICKED FIRMWARE 4.0.1 AND NOTHING I STILL GET THIS ERROR 1601 PLEASE HELP
@IImWhatHeCRAVEES4 My advice would be to make sure that you have the version of itunes that will allow you to downgrade the firmware. Not sure about the exact itune version either. This might work though not guaranty. BTW which ipod touch do you have?

@youaffan9 Make sure that you have an older version of iTunes as the new one will not allow you to do that.
