Marijuana Grandmother Gets Statewide Support

A Mansfield grandmother indicted for growing marijuana for medicinal purposes has gained support from two state organizations.

Susan L. Stevens, 62, was arraigned Tuesday in Richland County Common Pleas Court on charges of growing and possessing marijuana.

The organizations Ohio Patient Network and North Ohio Normal is supporting Stevens in her case.

Stevens was indicted by the Richland County Grand Jury this month after police officers raided her home and confiscated her plants.

Stevens entered a not guilty plea to the third degree felonies and posted a $5,000 bond.

Stevens says she uses the marijuana to help relieve pain and pressure behind her eyes caused by glaucoma.

Ohio Patient Network Advocate Cher Neufer says the organizations support the move now underway in Ohio to legalize marijuana for medical reasons.

If convicted of the charges, Stevens faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

So our big brother government thinks this old lady belongs in prison with murderers, rapists and terrorists because she smokes pot? Why, so she can get connections with convicted heroin dealers, start injecting hard drugs, get addicted to them and that lifestyle then get AIDS and hepatitus? I guess that would prove them right that they are telling our kids who don't know any better and that pot leads to all that crap. When our children find out that it's a lie, who do you think they will trust?

A symptom of clonazepam withdrawals is spasms in your face and temples, eyes, etc. and other discomfort. I've been off of it almost cold-turkey for 4 days now and have been using the hash and it's the only thing getting rid of the withdrawals, in fact, I think I can get completely off of it. I wish I could do the same with the methadone but I still use it for pain....oh well, one thing at a time right? :) Can't ask someone to get off of three insanely addictive drugs at once

@LSDCoatedBrain, pain beyond description, and for me the worst part is the leg shakes and cold sweats and hot sweats. I have to have my medication put in a safe because when I take it I take extra and don't remember it! (clonazepam+methadone can cause severe short term memory loss, sleep-dosing-which kills you-and sleep eating) luckily I am a boxer and martial artist and have good genes, I got a very strong heart and have survived what many others haven't. Right now I am taking

@LSDCoatedBrain, great points, I've made them myself. HEre I am on methadone, norco and clonazepam for pain, the combination of the three give the same effect as heroin (believe me, I know, I'm a former heroin/oxy addict but it's ironic, most people go from oxy/heroin to methadone, well I got put on methadone for pain and developed my addiction from there). The methadone withdrawals and clonazepam withdrawals together can literally kill you. Seizures, hallucinations...

I agree. Telling kids that pots such a horrible drug, and putting it on the same legal status as heroin makes no fucking sense to me. What if that kid tries pot, and sees his grades don't drop, he doesn't loose his friends, and hes less stressed. That kid might think heroin must not be bad either. Or maybe he sees that alcohol and cigarettes are legal, and think they must be absolutely fine. Alcohol and tobacco kill about 500,000 people in America each year, thats 500,000 more than pot.
