Chuck, I love the book, thank you for making my train and bus journeys not be a pain in the ass. I don't agree with you about 40% of the time, but your entertaining way of arguing your case makes that totally irrelevant!
"Eating the Dinosaur" was a really great read. I was pleasantly surprised, because I couldn't get into "Killing Yourself to Live" for some reason, but this one was very interesting. I like that he got me to care about topics I knew nothing about, like Ralph Sampson. I had no idea who the guy was, but the essay was great.
I agree that this interviewer is extremely awkward and in the wrong field.
After having read the book, I can't watch this interview without thinking about Klosterman's contempt for/fascination with the interview. "Why is he answering these questions?" I ask myself. "Is he thinking about how people who have read his book will see this interview and wonder why he's answering these questions?"
It quickly turns into a meta- shitstorm. I would hate to have to interview Chuck Klosterman; I would feel completely debilitated: "So, this is pretty inane and strange, huh?"
@musicvideowatcher93 fantastic book. read "killing yourself to live" next...He is my favorite author.
