TORONTO RAPPER CAPITOL P-CHARGED WITH MURDER IN DA VERN?

A 23-year-old gangsta rapper is now wanted for the 2007 slaying of a teenager in Malvern — a murder rap he denies in a video posted on the Internet.

Pierre Oliver Ellis is wanted for first-degree murder in the shooting of Keyon "Ace" Campbell, a 16-year-old who was gunned down outside his family's townhouse on Empringham Dr. three years ago, Toronto Police said.

"It made quite a splash in the media at the time," Det.-Sgt. Hank Idsinga said Monday after announcing a warrant has been issued for Ellis' arrest.

"It was the city's 80th murder that year, which was one of the worst we've ever seen, and the victim was only 16-years-old," he added.

Sources say the suspect is also known by his stage name, Capitol P, a local rapper who can be easily found on an assortment of social media sites, such as Facebook and My Space.

However, finding him in virtual reality and locating his actual whereabouts are two different things.

"He has bounced all over the GTA," Idsinga said, adding investigators believe the accused is likely still in the city.

Campbell ran outside in the early hours of Dec. 2 to start the car for his mom so she could drive home a friend.

"He was shot on the porch but he managed to make it back inside," Idsinga said, explaining the teen's mother found him bleeding to death in the hall.

Campbell had recently appeared in a documentary on TVO about Malvern youth called Empz 4 Life.

Idsinga said the victim was not involved in a gang.

"I believe he was targeted though," the veteran homicide detective said, adding the gunman wanted to kill either Campbell, his friend, or both of them.

Idsinga alleged there was some sort of "ongoing dispute" and described Ellis as "a very dangerous individual."

In Letter 2 Da Vern (RIP Ace), one of several songs posted by Capitol P on YouTube, Ellis claims he "loved" his "young" friend.

In the same song, posted in August of 2009, he also raps that he treated Campbell "better than my own brother."

"I'd never push his wig back," Capitol P rhymes, vehemently denying he was the shooter while smoking what appears to be marijuana.

Ellis makes gun references in numerous songs and interviews posted online. And in photos he is depicted surrounded by money.

And an online bio states he "hit the streets at a young age of 14 where he learned quick to survive in (the) T.O. gangland lifestyle of money murder drugs and woman."
