*** All you need to know about the KING BOXER - ALI! *** "Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee" An introduction to Ali's life from his childhood to the present day, focusing on his career and the controversies surrounding him. Both his talent in the boxing ring and his showmanship earned him international fame, while his refusal to accept the stereotypical role of a black athletic star in the 1960s and his membership in the Nation of Islam brought him notoriety. Myers interweaves fight sequences with the boxer's life story and the political events and issues of the day. He doesn't shy away from reporting on the brutality of the sport and documents the toll it has taken on its many stars. Ample black-and-white photographs of the subject in and out of the ring illustrate the book. Covering Ali is a daunting task, especially since dozens of books and hundreds of articles have been written about him in the last 40 years. Fortunately, young adults have their own award-winning author, one with the perspective of being a young African American in Harlem during the height of the boxer's fame, to tell his story. Myers's writing flows while describing the boxing action and the legend's larger-than-life story.

  • @smwildmon01 Everyone entitled to their own opinion and each is very valid but there's big a difference between those who can bring supportive data to backup for their views and those who just air their views with no supportive data to suggest they know what they are talking about. It's been good to hear your view about Muhammad Ali being an entertaining boxer.

  • @joephil6 I struggle to find anything entertaining that has nothing to do with boxing that Muhummad Ali did and I am struggling. Something that suggests he didn't just live for boxing unfortunately there was only one dimension to the guy which is why he ended up with parkinson's disease. He had no other outside interests to entertain himself or the public other than his religion. Joe Frazier liked Music Singing. Entertainment you see nothing to do with boxing. Henry Cooper. Cars. Entertainment

  • @joephil6 There you go a few points to support your argument. A few points to support your view but not that supportive when you consider the length of his career when you compare with Floyd Mayweather and even in those things that I mentioned to support your argument. All to do with boxing or combat except the TV adverts. Wow big deal.

  • @smwildmon01 Muhammad Ali was just a boxer people found entertaining but he wasn't an entertainer. The few activities he has participated in were combat matches with wrestlers where he got injured, one acting role in the film "The Greatest",Some adverts one where he eats a beefburger given to him by his mother and a few TV appearances on shows like Parkinson to document his life and boxing career. Wow big deal. These are things he did that entertained which had less to do with boxing.

  • @joephil6 Dude, at this point you are picking fly shit out of the pepper.

  • @smwildmon01 Dancing with the stars is entertainment. People view that and families with children could watch Floyd Mayweather Dancing. It's a completely different participation outside of boxing where family can go and watch but families couldn't allow their children to go to those inspirational speeches because of the language that may used there. That's entertainment when families can allow their children to watch with them, without worrying about the effect the programme might have on them

  • @smwildmon01 If his speeches were to inspire. They weren't strictly to entertain then were they? It's just that people found them entertaining because he added humor because he had a colorful character and sense of humor even though he was experiencing hardship without being able to make a living, being striped of his title and licence to box. This doe's not count as entertainment. The speeches were entertaining because he was a character who could add humor and cheer people up but that's it.

  • @joephil6 So that's why his filmed speeches here on youtube, and on other sites have thousands of views, because they have no entertainment value? Please. That's like saying JFK's moon speech, or MLK's speech weren't entertaining because it was for a specific cause. Or that Monet's paintings weren't pleasing to the eye just because he painted them to put food on the table. That's not even a logical line of thinking.

  • @smwildmon01 You're right any boxer can suffer some kind of brain damage from blows to the brain, even Mayweather but he's made so much money it's highly unlikely he'll stay around too long. However you never know.
