Tamil peoples representatives are elated over the programme mooted by the Government on behalf of the civilians liberated from the terrorists.

Parliamentarian K. Thangeshwari said they are confident that the President is meeting the aspirations of the Tamil Polity. As mentioned by him, they appreciate the initiatives taken by Basil Rajapaksa to increase the allowance two-fold given to the inmates of welfare villages and grant them freedom of movement.

Batticaloa Mayor Shivageetha Prabhakaran referred to how they witnessed the civilians expressing their joy when Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa announced that they will be soon resettled and an opportunity afforded to them to freely move about. These civilians will be satisfied due to the programmes implemented by the Government for their welfare.
Provincial Councillor Kandiah Arumailingam said LTTE terrorism devastated the lives of Tamil civilians for 30 years. It has now been eliminated. The Tamil civilians can live in freedom as the Government is meeting all their requirements. He said they are also upbeat about it.
